Latest art exhibition, ‘A Moorland Response’ by Rachel Van Der Steen, here until Sunday 12th November 2017
The Chagford Inn’s latest art exhibition, ‘A Moorland Response’, comes from local artist, Rachel Van Der Steen. It is here until Sunday 12th November. The original images from this breathtaking exhibition are available to purchase and there maybe those of you who wish to do so. With Christmas just around the corner, perhaps some of you are looking for something special that represents the beautiful landscape of Dartmoor or maybe you would like to adorn your own walls with a moorland response!
“Dartmoor is never the same from one day to the next. There is restless change and great peace. Mist can drift into sunshine, sunshine can become rain, heavy rain. Light and colours change sometimes suddenly, unexpectedly, sometimes slowly and subtlety.” – Rachel Van Der Steen.
The images from this latest exhibition, ‘A Moorland Response’ have been “created on perspex and and aluminium reflect the moorland streams, mysterious peat coloured waters, swimming with reeds and bright green foliage, supporting a myriad of wildlife. Deep waters flooding in a film over rich fine, delicate plants”.
Rachel was born on Dartmoor’s edge. At the age of 50 she decided to take a degree in Fine Art at the University of Plymouth where she gained a first class honours degree. Since then she has exhibited over several years in Devon Open Studios and currently has a piece of work at the Greenhill Open.
Whilst we do not charge for exhibitions, we do ask that 10% of any sales go direct to the Chagford Education & Leisure Trust that rents premises to The Mess, a local organisation that we are very keen to support, so it’s great news for all concerned!
